8/29/08 - Doing GREAT!!!

Today has been just a wonderful day. As you can see, Kayleigh is already off the vent and back on the nassal cannula. That is amazing because they said it would be up to a week before she would be off the vent. She is also going to be starting her feeds tomorrow. They will start with a small dose to see if she tolerates it and if she does, they even said we could try to introduce her to a bottle. You would think it would be too early for that because of her size, but she is on;y two weeks out from her original due date and that makes her almost full term. It is hard to imagine that when you look at her though. Everything she does is normal except for her tiny little body. I am just ready for her to get this feeding situation down.

We had a great visit with Kayleigh today. We showed up about fifteen minutes after they extubated her and she was a little cranky, but calmed down once Aimee and I got our hands in there. She was so cute, as she was licking her blanket. I am guessing she really liked the the texture to it. She was satting good, her eyes were wide open and she was having a grand ole time. She is a lot stronger than I would be after having eye surgery. We are so happy that she is recovering well. Her eyes are a little puffy and red, but that was to be expected. She gets eye drops a couple times a day and I am shocked that she wasn't irritated when they put them in. I would think the soreness would upset her, but she is one tough cookie. You would think I already knew that. ha!
Thanks for all your prayers and please keep them coming!

God Bless,

The Freemans :)

Awwww she is doing so wonderful, she looks great :) She does look like shes feeling out. How great that she is already off the vent. You go Kayleigh :) Happy Birthday Aimie, hope you have a great day. Is kayleigh still wearing the little 3" diapers? I remember those and was so amazed at how tiny they were. Ava now likes them for her dolls :) Watch one day Kayleigh too will by putting them on her dolls instead of wearing them, and it will come quicker then you know.

take care

Your little girl is a 2-lb. ball of fire, isn't she?!! HA!!

How amazing to see what has happened to Kayleigh, almost overnight! How can you not get a blessing from watch God at work through this little baby? I am thrilled every time I log on to read of her progress. I had to comment, but yet I'm speechless.

Thanks to God for this amazing baby He chose to show Himself through! What can we expect next from this little angel?

Love,
Pennie

aww she's looking great! You can see how much more alert she's getting and how much she's growing! You didn't mention how much she's weighing - but you can see how she's filling out! She even has what's beginning to resemble baby fat rolls on her arms! AWW!!
