12/29/08 - Need Prayers + Procedure Cancelled

I guess Kayleigh has her own way of showing us that this procedure was not supposed to happen. Late last night, before Aimee and I went to bed, Kayleigh had an hypertensive episode. She dropped her sats fairly low, but never spiraled out of control like she normally does. Kayleigh must be getting used to some of the sedation medication because they had to bump up her dosage and switch over to Morphine to really get her to relax. She slowly recovered back to normal.

Around 6:30 in the morning, we got a phone call that she had another episode, but this time she spiraled out of control and needed to be paralyzed along with more sedation medication. During this episode, she was not responding like normal and she is currently on a much higher pressure control setting at 100% oxygen. The x-ray came back showing her left lung is collapsing. They have started some treatments to fix it and hopefully Kayleigh can turn things around. We are not sure if this is pneumonia coming back or her elevated pressures causing her lungs to close up. Either or is not good.

Please pray for Kayleigh and that she will keep fighting no matter what gets in her way.

Thank you and God Bless,

The Freemans

I am definitely praying for Kayleigh. May God heal her little body to fight this. She is so precious and I know God's plan for her will continue to prevail. Please Lord God lay your healing hands on her lungs and fix this problem. You are the greatest healer and can fix all things. Kayleigh needs your strength and love at this moment. Please give the doctors and nurses the wisdom to fix this problem quickly and find out what is causing it. Lift Kayleigh up in Your hands and shine Your bright light on her so she can be healed of this problem. Lord we place Kayleigh in your hands please heal her and make her strong so she can continue to make her way home with her loving and faithful family. Through you all things are possible.

This is just Kayleigh saying she isn't ready for the procedure just yet. I just pray that she recovers completely from this last episode and that no permanent damage was done to the lung tissue. Father, wrap your arms around Kayleigh and heal her little body Lord for You are the Great Healer. Father I ask that you guide the doctors and nurses taking care of Kayleigh and lead them in the right direction to heal Kayleigh. Father, wrap your arms around Adam, Aimee, Allyson and Brandon during this time. Give them comfort in knowing that YOU are in control. Show us another miracle father and pull Kayleigh through this. I ask this in Jesus' precious and holy name,
Amen.

Hello my name is Yolonda and I am praying hard for Kayleigh. I gave birth 2 a 23 weeker 3 years ago who made it home free of developmental and physical issues. However, she had BPD (lung disease) and Pulmonary Hypertension. She lived with these diseases for 3 years before developing pneumonia which elevated her pressures and she went went into complete heart failure and died. My daughter died from her very first pulmonary hypertension episode. Kayleigh has had a few and yet she fights her way out of them. I am praying with everything I have in me for Kayleigh. She is my light right now. She is my light at the end of the tunnel and I know she will overcome this episode too.

God Bless,
Yolonda

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us--whatever we ask--we know that we have what we asked of him.
(1 John 5:14-15)

Lots of prayers &love for Kayleigh. We have to believe she wasn't meant to have that procedure today and this was God's way of showing that to us. Hang in there, someday this will all be a distant memory...

Kayleigh continues to be in my thoughts and prayers.

I have a question...
I know that Kayleigh is intubated, but I was wondering if she could have bronchialmulasia (sp??). This is when the bronchial tubes collapse making it difficult to get air to the lungs. I know my son with through this, but he wasn't intubated at the time we found out. He did have pulmonary hypertension and was diagnoised with chronic lung disease from being ventilated for so long on such high settings. However, he has out grown the bronchialmulosia and the docs don't mention the chronic lung disease anymore. Well, I was just curious if this could be causing Kayleigh's episodes (they sound a lot like Kaden's).

I have been following Kayleigh's story for quite sometime as my daughter was born on 6/23/08 when I was only 24 weeks pregnant. MacKenzie weighed 1 pd 4 ounces and was 12 inches long. Unfortunately, she only lived for 9 days as she had developed a level 2,3 & 4 brain bleed and she also had complications from having to have her PDA closed at 5 days old. We had to make the decision to take her off life support or let her be in pain and suffer. We knew that God was watching over her and us and made our decision with peace. We miss our little girl but I believe that she is up in Heaven watching over us all and watching over Kayleigh. I will continue to keep your family and Kayleigh in my prayers and pray that she recovers completely and is healed by God.

They had a 'Syndrome' named after them 'Collison-Hughes Syndrome' I pray every day that no other babe will get told they have that!

Adam and Aimee,

I've been a silent follower of Kayleigh's story ever since the first time Aimee posted on the old September '08 birthclub on Babycenter.com. This little tiny angel who was supposed to be a little younger than my almost 4 month old son, Rory inspired me and touched my heart from the very first hurdle she jumped, still inside her mommy's tummy. I kept up with every update, cried tears of joy and tears of worry, and waited with bated breath for more news. All the while, I've been rooting for Kayleigh and not a day goes by that I don't think of her and wonder how she's doing. She has fought so hard...someone has made it perfectly clear that Kayleigh was meant to be here and was meant to touch so many hearts. I just wanted to say that every day I make sure to send good thoughts and good energy to little Kayleigh and your entire family. I have no doubt in my mind that Kayleigh will pull through this whole ordeal and I wish I had half the strength you all possess. I probably would have fallen apart long ago. Keep holding tight to one another and never give up hope!

And Kayleigh, for all the trouble and worry you give Mama and Daddy you better be one saint of a Teenager! You keep this up, Missy and they're gonna be gray-haired before you hit Kindergarten!

I have been praying so much over these last 24 hours having 100% faith in the Lord that he will heal Kayleigh. I think I went to bed praying, prayed in my dreams, and woke up praying this morning. She is the light for so many and she shines bright for our Lord and Savior. Over the past few days I get on the computer and look up the bible verse of the day. This is what it is for today and I believe God is going to continue His work through Kayleigh. Trust in him for he is all powerful.

For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.
-2 Corinthians 4:6-7 —

I have come across your blog from another one.... what caught my eye is the picture on the top of your blog. I too have a premie. She is 18 now . She was born at 2lbs, went down to 1 lb 8 oz.(she was born at 22 weeks) She had a hole in her heart, which surgery was needed to close. She had numerous bowel issues. She was constantly on & off her feeding tube. I know your roller coaster your on. There was nobody for us back in 1990 that had gone through this. She lived in a NICU unit for 3 months. I just want you to know, that God will take care of all of you. Its so hard to really believe that when your in the situation, but with prayer and continued prayer for those doctors to use everything in their power, your little girl will come home. I will pray for all of you, everyday. I have fought through the tears while reading your story this morning, but for some reason , I turned right to it. Please keep positive and please keep praying for your little miracle. We are firm believers in them too!! I will quit rambeling on, Im sure you have heard so many of these stories.
May the New Year bring blessings to all of you,

Hello!
I have been following your story since Amy had problems in her pregnancy. I came across it accidentally in the BBC. I was a November mom, and I believe she was Sept. I would check every few days to get updates. I went back one time and couldn't find it anymore and I put up a comment and they gave me your blog. I have been following it every day since. I have prayed many prayers and cried many times. You family and sweet little Kayleigh has touched our family. I, like many others, feel like you are a part of our family, and when you hurt, we hurt, and when you are happy, so are we! I lost my sister, who was due the same time as me. She was in a car wreck, we were both 25 weeks. They took here baby c section, but she did not survive. Sadly, my sister did not either, leaving 3 lovely children behind. We named our daughter after the name she picked for her daughter. It is kind of odd, but between the death of her and her baby, and Kayleigh's story, seeing all of these tiny miracles of God has really given me a heart to reach out and help those women and organizations that help women choose life, even if it's adoption. These tiny babies are God's children, he puts parents in place to nurture them. You all are doing an awesome job and I thank you for all you have done for others.
May God bless you and your family!

I would like to begin by thanking you and your family for sharing your story. It helped to get me through the month my new son spent in the NICU.

I know you have wounderful doctors. But I have lived with a chronic medical condition for the past 10+ years. And I know what finding the best treatment can take. This is not to say that your doctors are not the best or doing everything they can. But to extend he network of medical knowledge and care for your child. If you can email every doctor in your area who deals with pulmonary hypertension.

Your family and the doctors at the hosptal may never know what other doctors are reaserching. Others may have more ideas or know of other doctors in the field in other states or countries that could help. It took years to find one of the leading doctors in my illness in the world.

You can find a list of PH doctors throught the Pulmonary Hypertension Association under find a Doctor. http://www.phassociation.org/Find_A_Doctor/index.asp email as many as you can. Let them know yor story and that you are out of options.

My family will always pray for yours.
