4/14/09 - Back on Track

As of right now, surgery is scheduled for Thursday morning. They wanted to do the procedures at 8:00am, but we are checking to see if a later time that morning is possible because the kids have to be taken to school. If it changes, I will let you know so everyone can be praying.

Kayleigh is doing really well and she is tolerating her feeds. Her belly has blown up a little, but nothing more than her norm. It is nothing to be concerned about because she is still having stools and her bowel sounds are good.

This weeks "Thoughtful Thursday" is going to be a little different than others. I am going to do a "Thankful Thursday" instead and thank someone who has impacted my life so much. If you are interested in joining in, just write a post and link it to our blog so others can see who you are thanking and why. This will allow those who are being thanked to feel blessed your life was impacted by theirs for the kindness or leadership they have given you.

I am looking forward to writing my post and I can't wait for that person to read what I wrote because I don't feel like I have said thank you enough. I want the world to know how awesome this person is to me.

I wish you all a wonderful Tuesday and I will give you more updates with hopefully some new cute photos of Kayleigh soon.

God Bless,

I have already started to pray for this Thursday that God will guide the Dr's and nurse's who will be handling Kayleigh's procedure. I know God will have his hands around her and bring her through this with flying colors. I pray that he also will give you and Amiee a peace and comfort like only he can. I can't wait to see more recent pics of Kayleigh. She continues to amaze me day in and day out.

We pray that no normal obstacles present themselves and Kayleigh's surgeries are completely flawlessly. I love very much to see God's work through other people's experiences. It helps to keep me thankful for everything He has given me.
Keep up the fight sweet Kayleigh!! Always reading, always praying, always thankful!

Your daughter is so sweet! I just followed your pray button from another blog and I saw that her birth day is my birth day. I'm a NICU nurse and am excited to read your whole story when I get a chance. I would love to pray for her.

Glad to hear that Kayleigh is doing well and she is still on track for her procedure. Hmmm....can't wait to read your post, either....I think I have a guess about who you are going to write about!!

I was surprised to read the other day that Brandon and Allyson have not been able to see Kayleigh in SO long. I am very familiar with the whole RSV, and completely understand. It just seems like time flies by so fast and I was just surprised that time has gone as fast as it has. I bet they are just SO excited to see their little sister when they are finally able to do so. It must be pretty hard for them to have a sibling that they can't see. Soon enough she'll be getting into all of their stuff!!

Personally, I wouldnt put off kayelighs surgery just because you have to take the kids to school.

Is there a neighbor or family mbr that can drop the kids off at school for you?

Or, why not have ONE of you take kids to school THEN meet the other parent at hospital?

Jessica Kander - Thank you for your comment, but we are not putting Kayleigh's procedure off to take the kids to school. We normally post a time so Kayleigh's prayer warriors know exactly when to pray.

So, when I said the time might change depending on if they are able to adjust to our schedule, those devoted prayer warriors will keep an eye out for that possible change.

So personally, I wouldn't put off the surgery either, but I would care very much about my supporters to give them notice as to when Kayleigh will be going into surgery. Their prayers that God has answered are the reason Kayleigh is still here anyways :)

Just to catch you up to speed, we only have one car so we couldn't take them seperate. Kind of hard.

My father has stepped up to be the hero and decided to sit here for a couple hours while we go up to the hospital and to take the kids to school at 9:00, since the doctors were not able to change the time for us. We have to be at the hospital at 7:00am to see Kayleigh off.

Thank you so much for your ideas though. We greatly appreciate it.

Jenn - God bless you for being a NICU nurse. You all deserve the top notch awards for the work you do. You are never thanked enough for the hard work you put in your job to help make these little miracles happen. Thank you tons!

If anyone has any questions, please let me know and I will do my best to answer them.

God Bless,

Adam

Hi Adam, I was wondering how Kayleigh's skin was doing with all that tape they keep putting on her cheeks to hold that feeding tube? It seems quite raw at times. Can they use something less harsh on her delicate skin?
