5/3/09 - Peacefully Sleeping

Kayleigh had another uneventful day filled with peaceful sleeping such as you see above. The swelling has not increased anymore over night, which is good news towards getting closer to bringing her home. They need to transfer her hypertension medication over before they can send her home, which they will begin to do on Monday. Pray she tolerates the new medication so she can come home soon.

Right now, she is up on her feeds and tolerating it well. She is rarely ever showing signs of irritation and her heavy breathing comes on every now and then. We are not sure what the cause of that is, but since she has never done it before, we can only relate it to her brain injury.

Our goal right now is to pray the swelling in her brain does not take her from us before we can bring her home to her beautiful room. We have prayed many prayers for this day, and even though her situation was not what we expected, we still can't wait to walk her out of those hospital doors, out in to the sunlight and make that glorious journey to our home.

Please continue to pray that our dreams come true and may her time here on earth ends with us at home and not in the hospital. May God bless us with this wish, even though His plans for Kayleigh may be different in the near future.

We thank you all again SO MUCH for your prayers and support. You have all been so wonderful to us and we can't thank you enough. I have read almost every email that has come in, but unfortunately will not be able to respond to everyone. Please know that your emails and comments keep us strong and help us through these difficult days.

God Bless,

We know you're seeing them, and we understand if you don't have the time to respond. We would rather you be with your family right now at a time like this. We know you know that we're here if you need us...ANY of us. We're praying that you can have your heart's desire of taking her home. I'm just hearing the song 'Walking her home' in my head. You and Aimee are definitely "walking Kayleigh Home". What an honor.

My husband and I are praying for you to bring Kayleigh home. Even more, I'm going all out in prayer for a full recovery.
The fast breathing is normal for preemies. My son wasn't able to eat for a while by mouth because he would breath so fast. And again with our preemie daughter it was the same. You have been through so much and I admire your strength through the Lord. We love and pray for little Kayleigh everyday.

This is my first comment, primarily because I have only been following your blog since last Wednesday. This is not an intent to make your burdens heavier, but this morning (Saturday) we learned that a long time family friend lost their 26 year old granddaughter in a tremendously heartbreaking manner. Her husband has been charged with her death although no particulars have been released at this time. Knowing that she has been found (missing since Thursday night) if a relief and it is a greater relief to know that she is at home with our Father. I have said all of this to say the following, I write poetry, and the poem that I sent to this family is below. In reading your blog, I have too shared your tears and at the same time smiled at the pictures of your beautiful daughter. My prayers at this time are that Kayleigh will once again "hold on" until you can bring her home to the room you have prepared for her where she can stay until time for her to go home to the room our Savior has prepared for her.

God bless

Shared Tears

Our Father says we are to weep
With others when they cry,
And that we are to laugh with those
Who are happy by and by.

News came to me that you have lost
Someone much too young to go.
She was beautiful and loving;
I’ve heard from those who know.

So please do know that as I sit
And pen these words to you
The tears are flowing freely
And my heart is breaking too.

I’ll keep you in my nearest thought
And in my earnest prayers
That God will hold you strongly
And you’ll feel him ever there.

Just know I’m one of many
Who will share this pain today,
As you’ve shared pain and laughter
With others along life’s way.

Hi, Im just a stranger who has been following this blog for a while, and I want to just let you and your wife know that Ive been SO blessed by your testimonies of faith and trust in God. I sense grief in your entries, yet a deeper sense of quiet surrender unto God Himself, and I am so touched.

I pray that God would forever be with you and your family in these times. Your daughter is simply so beautiful, and it brings tears to my eyes just looking at this WONDERFUL creation God has made.

God has a purpose for everything. I may not understand the depth of emotions your family is going through now, but Im certain for sure, that God is pleased with your faith in Him.

For without faith it is impossible to please God.

And yes, God would continue to hold your hand, as well as your wife's and your beautiful daughter's hand. He would bring so much peace and joy at the end of the day, for He is a faithful God. He will never let us go. He will always always watch out for us.

Read Psalm 121.
Be blessed with God's peace and love.

I think her day was much more than "uneventful".....she was eventful in not having anymore swelling, she was eventful in resting peacefully and she was eventful in holding onto your love and determination and staying here with you. She wants you to take her home just as much as you do! She needs to have EVENTFUL days like this to make all your dreams come true! She...and God...are working overtime. Its just so hard to be patient while they work their miracle. I thank God for answering our prayers so far because what seems to be "uneventful" days are the most eventful. Please God, continue granting our wishes and prayers and work your miracle on sweet Kayleigh! Here's to reduced swelling, new med toleration, increased feeds, the best car ride home of all time and a continued healing! Here's to an EVENTFUL day!

Please read Psalm 91 (entire chapter) over and over to her! I cannot accept that God won't work another miracle with this child!! Not to be trite, but she is alive and we must continue to behave is this way and not accept defeat. Satan would like nothing more, but we as Christians, don't have to give up faith in God and His ability to heal this baby!!!

I am continuing in strong faith and prayer to believe and expect more miracles. My God is an AWESOME GOD!!!

Still, remember that it's really true that "Home is where the HEART is." For Kayleigh, home is in your arms...We're still praying for a miracle.

I sat in church today and thought for a long time about Kayleigh. I don't know what God has in store for her, but He knew what He was doing when He sent her to you. Even through the pain and worry, His light shines through you both. God bless.

Glad to hear that your little girl is sleeping peacefully. Praying for her homecoming. Have you tried playing some soft music for her? Just a suggestion, my daughter seemed to relax when we used to play music when she was in the hospital. God bless your sweet Kayleigh and family.

Your princess has entered our family through your blog. I have a 10 year old who read your story and watched the video with me and since then she has asked me daily about your little one! I honestly didn't check your blog for a few days because...just because my heart hurt so much for all of you! Today I checked and there was her beautiful, precious face. I again have asked (begged) God for a miracle for you. I will continue to do so.
May the Lord Bless and keep you! May he make his face shine upon you and give you peace!
Love and prayers from a sister in the Lord,

Praying for your beautiful Kayleigh Anne and your family. Please stay strong and keep praying for God's will. May God grant you and yours peace, hope, and endurance.

The Word of God is healing so please read it out loud in Kayleigh's hospital room and in her bedroom where she can hear those healing words.

God's will is not always our will, and if His will is to allow her to pass away as a baby; this would still be tragic and He will cry too. There is a time for that (deep sorrow and weeping). Never forget what God can do.

If Kayleigh dies this will be no less than a tragedy that something good can come out of, but no less tragic. Our hope is knowing that no matter what the "professionals" say; God has the final say. God bless you all. Let's all keep crying out to God for Kayleigh and the family.

What a perfect little girl. May God continue to hold you in his hands and bless you with comfort and peace. I have followed your story from the Sept. '08 babycenter message board and pray for you all each time I sit down to nurse my own daughter.
I am so sorry for the heartbreak you are going through and wish with all my heart that there was something more I could do for you. But I know all I can do (and the very best thing I can do!) is to keep praying - so I will!

You don't know who I am but I feel so honored to get to know your family in the short time I have been reading your blog. I am so saddened by your unfortunate situation. I do believe that God's plan is perfect! sometimes not understandable but it's not always for us to figure out why things happen the way they do. Your faith and strong determination is amazing! I have three small children who were all born into this world healthy! And I am very grateful! My eyes just swell up with tears every time I read your blog. I am praying that you will be able to take Kayleigh home to be with you for as long as God allows! May his comforting arms wrap around you and your family during this precious time you have with your angle!

In God's Grip,
Natalie

A part of my heart broke when I read your update a couple days ago. I've been thinking of you all often and just wanted to let you know...

I ran across a little saying tonight

If I never met you, I wouldn't know you...
if I didn't know you, I wouldn't love you...
if I didn't love you, I wouldn't miss you...
but I did, I do and I will.
