2/11/09 - MORE EXCITING NEWS!!!

I’ve got some more exciting news to go with yesterday when I told you about the news station picking up our story.

I was contacted by the Editor of Serious.Life Magazine and they want to do a story on us. He told me the current February issue has had over 530,000 page views since last Monday, so there’s a good chance you may already know about them and it would be a perfect opportunity to spread the good word. If not, check it out – http://www.seriouslifemagazine.com/ – the subscriptions are FREE.

They want to do a story on us and Kayleigh, and highlight our blog. He (Brent Riggs, the Editor) asked if there was some new or current information or a story that was not yet part of our blog that we could include as original content for the March issue of Serious.Life.

What do you ALL think? What about us, or Kayleigh, or our blog would you like to see them do a story on? What would you like to know about us that you have NOT seen on our blog? Any suggestions? Any ideas on an angle for the story?

It’s a great opportunity for us to be seen by a huge audience. Help us make the best of it.

Couple of things before I go: Brent asked me if I would tell you that anyone with a blog can still get a FREE listing in their Serious.Life Featured Blogs Directory. Since this is a nice benefit for YOU (and the price is right..), I told him I would let you know. So check out the magazine, then sign up for the directory here: http://www.seriouslifemagazine.com/blogdirectorysignup.asp

The last thing I wanted to say was more personal about this guy, Brent Riggs. I went and scoped out his blogs. He has daughter with Leukemia (one of seven kids, three adopted) and they have a fantastic testimony of faith. I have asked for prayer requests this week, so you may have seen their blog. You should check out their family blog at http://www.riggsfamilyblog.com/ Brent’s professional blog is pretty impressive too – http://www.brentriggs.com/ – and he also has a Bible teaching site he’s been doing for several years – http://www.seriousfaith.com/ Brent sent me a copy of that big 740 page book of Bible teaching he wrote, and it’s really something.

Anyway, we look forward to being in the magazine on March 1, and I hope you’ll help me figure out the best storyline and content so we can really take advantage of the opportunity for such a large audience to see us.

That is exciting! I think the angel I would like to see would be a truely personal one. You talk a lot on here about how this has effected your faith but what about other areas of family life? I say this because 8 years ago my baby cousin almost died in the NICU. My aunt, her husband and 4 year old daughter stayed with us while Luke was at the best hospital in the state. We had to watch my cousin Rachel cry and beg her parents not to go to that "scary place" everyday. I also got to witness what a situation like that does to a marriage.

You've done a great job here informing us all about Kayleigh's progress and how God is taking you through this but I would love to see the relationships involved explored a lot more. Good luck with your interview!

Good Morning Freeman's
I am so glad to see that God is opening doors to get this little miracle out there to touch other people. DON'T WE SERVE AN AWESOME GOD? This is great about the magazine. I think i would include in the magazine about how it has tested your faith through this and how you have had to stand strong. That way more people could see how strong our God is and how he is bringing Kayleigh through this one step at a time. I know anything you write will be AWESOME, your family continues to amaze me everyday. I can't wait to get to wk to read updates on Miss Kayleigh. I am so glad to hear that the belly issue is getting better and she can have some food as well. I know she had to be starving. I can't wait for more wonderful updates.

Doors are opening...you are truly blessed! I too would like to see the personal angle...your walk with faith with both you and Aimee. Plus we don't get to hear too much from Aimee...it would be great. You are doing a wonderful job and someday it is going to be exciting for your whole family to look back and see all the journey you have all been on and how it changed you into the people you are today!

Best wishes on the article!!

Good job getting the word out. Congrats. I really think you should mention what the challenges are ahead for Kayleigh. We know what she's been through, and so many more people should know as well, but what lies ahead? What will life be like for her in the early years? teen years? etc? Will she hit developmental milestones once she's home? How will you balance work and a baby with special needs? Etc? I am curious to know what's in store for Kayleigh and the rest of the family.

I liked the idea also of the personal angle of how this has affected you and Amy personally and also how its affecting Brandon and __ - it has to be hard on them knowing that their sister is in the hospital and hasn't been able to come home for months, and they see you and Aimee worry and stress over Kayleigh's health and the financial situation this has put you in - and it would be good to hear how you balance your life with Kayleigh and Allyson and Brandon - more info on how they are dealing emotionally and maybe even "a day in the life" type of thing as far as getting the kids to school - lessons - church services - friends play dates and all the other things pre-teens are into - and how you still have to find the time to work and visit Kayleigh and keep up with this blog - all those personal life details - having been through my grandson being in the NICU for only 2 weeks I know how that throws off yoru entire schedule - and for over 7 months you have been doing it - maybe your way of dealing will help other family's that are facing or some day will be facing a NICU stay -

I agree with the previous poster who said she'd like to see a personal angel. I think it would be helpful to other people who may be going through this type of thing, or who may in the future, to hear how you handle the stresses on your marriage, how you deal with your other kids, that sort of thing. I was also thinking, they have childrens books for all sorts of things, to explain things to other children. Like books about having a new baby in the house, or potty training, or maybe dealing with a death, or such. It'd be nice to see a book about Kayleigh, to explain to other kids who may have a sibling in the NICU, or a premature sibling...

This is awesome news Adam! I have a few suggestions if you need them:

- Help your audience see what a typical day in the life of Aimee and Adam is like. How do you start off your day? How do you integrate working, being parents at home and parents at the hospital. I know many of us are so supportive of how you both juggle these challenges and I think it would be helpful for the general audience to know as well :)

Hope that helps.

Congrats! Kayleigh is a truly a blessing on this world. She has touched so many. She just reminds us of how precious life really is. One thing that readers might want to know if how you guys juggle having 2 other kids and Kayleigh in the hospital. How is it affecting them. It might be nice to hear how they handle or what advice they can give to brothers and sisters who might have to go through the same struggles and joys.

I absolutely agree with anonymous. I remember you mentioning the 365 days of letters read to Kayleigh. How about something super special from her big brother and big sister!
