4/1/09 - 9 Months in Review

Before I take you on a journey of the past 9 months, I wanted to tell you how Kayleigh is doing today. If you didn't follow my tweets on Twitter or Facebook the other day, Kayleigh's surgery was cancelled by a last minute belly issue. Her tummy blew up and she was having some serious diarrhea.

Right now, Kayleigh's belly has reduced in size and it is soft. She had a great day today. The doctors are not sure when the surgery will be rescheduled. We have to coordinate between two surgeons as they are doing both the PEG placement and the bilateral hernia repair. They will be doing a biopsy of her intestines at that point too to determine what is going on with Kayleigh's belly problem.

Okay, one of Kayleigh's prayer warriors posted a comment yesterday to post some photos of Kayleigh from each month over the past nine months. So, I thought it would be a good idea to do just that.

I hope you enjoy :)

Weighing only 13 ounces, Kayleigh was less than a week old.

Measuring only 11 inches in her first month of life.

Still a peanut at 2 months old with our favorite outfit on.

3 months and around 2 pounds - 4 ounces

One of my all-time favorite photos at 4 months old.

Night before open heart surgery at 5 months and just over 3 pounds.

An astonishing and quick recovery from heart surgery, but would
soon battle a tough 6th month as she faces death, but lives.

An exciting new year to celebrate in the 7th month.

Kayleigh can breathe better at 8 months with her new trach

Kayleigh's hopes to go home in her 9th month.

If you haven't seen the video, click here "Kayleigh's Video" and you will see the full story with tons of photos. I am actually working on a new video with my photographer who shot at our wedding. It is going to be awesome and I can't wait to share it with you all in the near future. It will include photos of when Kayleigh comes home, so it will have that perfect ending this time.

Thank you all for sharing in this journey with us and thank you so much for all of your prayers.

God Bless,

I can't believe I had almost forgotten how small she was! She looks so much older now, that it's hard to remember when she was that tiny! She's definately the smallest baby with the biggest story! Wow. Early congrats to you for the day you take her home! :)

What a beautiful post.

After seeing the picture at the top with her in your 2 hands, I was amazed at how tiny, then I put my own hands out like that. I was even more amazed.

Praise God for the wonderful doctors and nurses that Kayleigh has been blessed with, and for the never-ceasing love of her parents and prayer warriors!

Wow...what an unbelievable journey! I want you to know that her story has helped me have hope for my son Gage (who you have as a prayer request...we still need them!!)while he is going through a life threatening disease. When he is having bad, scary days, I think of all of the things that Kayleigh has pulled herself out of and it renews my hope and faith. Thank you so much for sharing your story and know that you truly are helping others! Love, Mary

She is so beautiful! She looks better and healthyier (sp?) each month. She is going to grow up to be such a heart breaker. What an amazing God we have that allows the Dr's to learn how to treat such a sweet little angel.

My whole family has been praying for you all for some time now. I am so happy that she is looking so grown up and healthy. God is delaying these things for a reason that only he knows and it will happen when he and kayleigh are ready.I don't know if i missed it, but was the fundraiser enough to save the house? Praying and loving you all.

Your story is INSPIRING! [I found your blog through a friend of mine.] We have 2 daughters both of which were born premature due to the same problems you had. Our 1st daughter was born at 30 weeks and our 2nd daughter was born at 28 weeks. Now, they are both growing and healthy. We still experience a few developmental road bumps, but overall, they are doing great! KAYLEIGH is ADORABLE and she is such a fighter! Our prayers are with you.

We have started a non-profit organization in an effort to give back and "pay it forward" from all the help we received. I was wondering if I could include your blogspot link on our page? Please visit: pennies4preemies.blogspot.com. Let me know what you think. Please feel free to email me at: lati97@yahoo.com.

Take care! God Bless!

Kayleigh is such an amazing little girl! You know, when she's 18, you guys are gonna look back at this in amazement - and she will be such a warrior for Christ and what he can do with a tiny little girl... if this doesn't make some people wake up to the "preborn" plight, nothing will. Praying for you guys as you battle onward towards home.

She is so stinkin' beautiful and her journey has been absolutely amazing!! GOD IS GOOD!!!
What a doll, and I am praying with all my might that THIS is the month that your sweet baby girl goes home with you :)

You don't know me but I feel like I know you. I ran across your blog on the March of Dimes site on Sunday, and I keep getting back on here to see how Kayleigh is doing. I feel like I need to check up on her and I don't even know her. I just want to let you know that people that you don't even know are praying for your little one. She is beautiful and full of strength.

Wow those pictures are amazing, she has grown and overcame so much. You have an amazing little girl.

Do you think we could get some pics of her legs and feet? In the earlier shots you see them and would also show a huge impact on how much she has grown if we could compare that too. Plus baby legs ad footsies are so darn cute! Ya know, when you have time. :)

Hope everyone has a great night.
