4/27/09 - Guest Blogger - Brent Riggs

Hi friends, this is Brent Riggs, guest blogging for Adam and Aimee today. They didn’t ask me too, I begged them to let me.

First, I know many of you know me and know that Adam and I are good friends, but a lot of you have no clue who I am. Because of what I’m writing today, it is prudent to give you a quick “who is this guy?” My wife and I have a blog at www.riggsfamilyblog.com. We have seven children, three are internationally adopted, two from Guatemala, one from Ethiopia. Our four year old from Guatemala, Abby, has Leukemia, and four times in the past year we spent days at a time unsure if she would survive. So we know a little bit about how Adam and Aimee are feeling, and what they are going through (actually we know a LOT about it).

Adam and I have become good friends over the months. I’ve been honored and blessed to have him stay in our home, and to be able to offer spiritual encouragement and advice. You’ll find my ministry site at http://www.seriousfaith.com/ and my professional site at http://www.brentriggs.com/. We also featured Kayleigh’s story in our magazine called “Serious.Life” in a story called “One Pound Miracle” (http://www.seriouslifemagazine.com/default.asp?issue=9). That issue received over one million page views.

So what? Did I get on Adam’s blog to promote myself. Nope. I just wanted to establish some credibility and background with you before I began to talk about what I really wanted to say today. One last thing, I want to make it abundantly clear that I CALLED the Freeman’s and asked to be able to speak to you on their blog. They were immediately hesitant and it took a couple of conversations for me to convince them. They are already overwhelmed and infinitely grateful for all the help and prayers that you have provided up to this point. The fact remains for them as they wake up each day, they need help, a lot more than they would ever publicly say.

Let’s recap for the newer readers:

You remember that little mortgage crisis last year? It was “in the news” for a while but it continues to devastate the lives of those who were unsuspectingly caught up in the disaster caused by politicians. The Freeman’s had a thriving real estate business, one that was blessing others, providing for family members and helping the community. The real estate crash disintegrated their entire business and income at the same time they began the long journey of relentless medical crisis with Kayleigh who was born three months premature and has been on a life crisis roller coaster from day one.

The bills skyrocketed, the business plummeted. So along with the emotional strain that comes with the daily battle of wondering if your child will be alive tomorrow, they have also endured the stress of mounting bills, threatened foreclosure and repossession, bill collectors, medical expenses, and all the expenses involved in the constant travel and dislocation at the hospital… this type of situation causes all expenses to rise, new expenses to occur. All the while, their income simply disappeared. We aren’t talking years, we are talking about a matter of months. People of lesser character and strength would have succumbed to despair with half this stress. During this time, I’ve watched Adam try to start a new business, work on getting the real estate moving again, and reach out to help others. We aren’t talking about some lazy “victim-minded” people… these are genuinely good, hard working folks who are walking through an EXTRAORDINARY set of trials.

I know that people have already helped the Freeman’s, as have we. In particular, enough money has been given to keep the most critical element in place: insurance for Kayleigh. I know from personal talks with Adam that this money is almost gone too. Adam would barely even consider letting ME write this blog post because they feel you have done so much already (I had to be very persuasive to get them to consider it). This is FAR from over for them. It was not a one time, short term situation. You can’t name a bill or expense they are not so far behind on that “action” is not being pursued. In the meantime, their precious daughter is lying in the hospital with “no hope” according to the doctors.

No hope? For those of us who believe in our Creator, we know that there IS hope. God could miraculously revive Kayleigh. THAT is hope. God could bring Kayleigh into His presence, if He hasn’t already. THAT is hope.

What we have right now is not a loss of hope, but a family enduring both the crushing stress of losing a child, and the debilitating stress of debt piling up exponentially. There is simply no reason for ME, and YOU, and the tens of thousands of other Christians who frequent this blog to not relieve the one part we CAN relieve: financial stress. We live in a land of PLENTY. Yes, times are a little harder right now, but I doubt many people reading this have anything much less than a comfortable life with plenty of material possessions, entertainment and leisure. I’m NOT about guilt trips. I only remind my Christian brethren of this because sometimes we lose sight of how good we really have it. And I ask you to consider how much YOU would hope and pray for help if you were in the same situation.

The Bible teaches us that if we have two coats, why do we let our brother go cold? If we have water, why do we tell them “God be with you” and not give a cup of water? Prayer is critical and required. GIVING puts prayer into action. There is no need for this precious family and their children to have endure ALL of this suffering. Yes, they will endure the sadness of the probable loss of their child. Can’t avoid that, no way out unless God intervenes. But together WE CAN remove the financial stress, the strain of bill collectors and relentless creditors. Sadly, and we hope it won’t be necessary, we need to remove the stress of how they might have to pay for a funeral.

Friends, as a Christian family, we get to love together, rejoice together, cry together and hang tough together. There is simply no need for the Freeman’s to have to endure the paralyzing stress of both critical illness as well as enough financial stress to cripple most people. One or the other is bad enough. Both? May it never be.

I’m not beating around the bush about my request. With the tens of thousands of people who are visiting this blog, we can all click the DONATE button up there on the right side, and we can almost instantly remove the financial stress so this family can spend possibly the last couple of weeks with their daughter without the overwhelming burden of losing everything they own, and the relentless inquiries from bill collectors. It would be hard for one person to give a hundred thousand, but it’s not hard for 50,000 people to give two dollars, or 10,000 people to give $10 or 1000 people to $100.

I’ve got a daughter with Leukemia. I have seven children. When the financial crisis hit in the Fall of last year, my income was cut IN HALF. But I see a family in greater need, and if we can sacrifice, I know you can too. Our family will lead the way by giving $250 first. It’s not much, but if the rest of you join us, it soon will be.

I’m not one for emotional appeals or begging, never have been. However, this is a case of Christians caring for their own. We should not let our fellow Christians suffer under so much without joining them in their trials. We all have hard times. We all experience stress, and perhaps you are feeling the financial crunch today. I understand that. We are too. But the Freemans are enduring EXTRAORDINARY circumstances, and it is simply to God’s glory that we, as a Christian family, pool our resources together and alleviate some of their burden.

Follow me, as I follow Christ…

Brent Riggs

UPDATE: Based on some valid incoming comments, I want to say that this post was not meant to imply that those who don't share our Christian faith are incapable or unwilling to care and help. Of course they are. We speak in "Christian terms" because our Christianity saturates our life. We know that people who do not hold to Christianity as their faith are just as capable and willing (sometimes more willing much to our shame) to give and help and care as much as those of us who profess Christianity. Again, I write in Christian vocabulary to our Christian family because that is what we base our life on and we can no more exclude it than we can exclude breathing from our life. It is not in any way meant to make others feel excluded or unwelcome to help the Freeman family. Of course not, but evidently that needed to be clarified. ~ Brent

Beautiful post. You just missed one little part. God won't be outdone in generosity. When we give sacraficially, we are actually blessed more than we could ever give - and in ways that matter in the spiritual world - not this passing material world. It is a privilege as a Christian, to be allowed to ease the burden of others. God didn't have to give us such a great grace. He did it to benefit us. Our family praises God and remains thankful that He, in His great Mercy, allows us to help the Freemans carry their cross. We are continuing to pray for you!

Wow!! I am truly inspired by your post Brent. I was about to buy a new quilt from Pottery Barn for my son's bed(which he really doesn't need). Instead, I will donate to Kayleigh's family who needs it and deserves it. Thank you for a great perspective and for reaching out to others. May God be with this family and yours in the days and years to come.

I have been following since almost the birth of Kayleigh. She holds a special place in my heart. She was born the same day as my first neice. My youngest daughter was born premature too. She has not had the complication, we were so fortunate. I am doing my part! God Bless The Freemans!

Thank you for this Brent! We will give the money that we normally tithe to church on May 1st- I can think of NO better place to send it!!!

I recently started following this blog and what a blessing Kayleigh, Adam, Aimee and their entire family have been. Thank you Brent, for following God's voice in reaching out and seeking help for a family who would not have asked for themselves. You're so right when you remind us that God calls us to seek Him in prayer, then to seek Him in our actions. I will lift up the Freemans in prayer--and click that donate button, too!
God Bless!

As a single parent, I have been dependent on gifts from friends to see me through many times. I have had a $90 check on my desk for a couple weeks waiting for God to impress me where it should go. I just donated to the Freemans, whom I don't even know except through following your blog. Praying for you!

Well written post Brent. I have also been following your blog, although I have never left a comment. I saw Adam's picture on there with your own sweet girl a while back.

Adam and Aimee are remarkable. May there be a huge, bright blessing coming their way soon! We all know that they are deserving of it.

Although I can not make a miracle happen with Kayleigh, I , too can help lift their financial burden. I WILL be donating $100 tonight.

Bless their hearts. I pray that they are holding up.

Thanks for doing this Brent! I am a reader of your Blog and Kayleigh's and I just went and made a donation. A few ideas for other people trying to find money to donate:
take lunch to work instead of buying it out
skip a movie or date night this week
see if your church can take donations for the Freemans one week
have a yard sale-get rid of junk and raise money for Kayleigh!
Just a few ideas! :)

Hey Brent... I see that you are blocking and approving comments before posting. I think that is great and I don't want this one posted. I would love to ask a parent of a NICU/PICU patient a few questions about toys and stuff. If you go to my blog,
www.babycnburgess.blogspot.com and read the second or third post down about giving to Duke, you will understand what I mean. I would love if you could email me or even blog post your thoughts on this. I didn't see an email address on your blog and I do not want to bother Adam and Aimee with this so if you could help, that would be great. Thanks,

I agree. Christians should take care of their bothers and sisters in Christ. Money is often the last thing even Christians want to give up, or sacrifice. I too will give today to help the Freemans, who I have come to love so much through their journey. I still pray for a miracle for Kayleigh, however, God's will may be another miracle through Kayleigh. May God bless you, Brent Riggs, and your family as well as the Freemans. Much love and prayer from OKC, Oklahoma.

You are walking a difficult road and I often find myself wondering what I could do to help you beyond praying. I couldn't give much, as my own family has been seriously affected by the economy causing me to be out of work for a very long time, but I gave what I could. My hope, like Brents, is that if everyone would just give a little that it will add up and make a serious difference and lessen some of the stress in your lives. I pray for you and Kayleigh every day. You are always in my thoughts.

Aimee and Adam~ I have just donated $50 for your family. I am donating to you because your sweet Kayleigh has been such an uplifting inspiration to me. Not just as a person that is following your story, but as an unemployed 41 year old mother who is raising a baby a day younger than Kayleigh on my own. I was down about Addie's father not wanting to be a part of our lives anymore and was in a very deep depression. Your story and Kayleigh have brought me back to God and the realization that although gifts from God aren't always as society "envisions" them to be, they are gifts none the less. I thank you and your daughter for helping me come closer to God and freeing me from the despair I was feeling. Even though I don't know your family face to face, I love you all with every inch of my heart!! God Bless you!!!

I think this is an awesome awesome post and for someone outside of the family to step in and be "real" about the "extraordinary" circumstances this family has been in and is still in is just nothing short of the Christian faith. As I type this, I'm in total agreement that if we can ALL come together as children of God and help this family, this would be a small token of our love for the Freemans.

Blessings to you,

I couldn't agree with you more Brent. I am glad you point this out and make it known. It is very hard to ask others to give financially especially on your own behalf so I don't blame Adam for being a little hesitant to do so but come on people!!! Can't you give up your latte twice this week and give the $7 bucks to the Freemans? A funerla is very expensive as well as all that has hit them. People easily throw away $8 in unused produce gone bad for heaven's sake. Let His light so shine and give to your brother that you made be added upon hundred fold! With all my love,

Freeman Family,

I have never met you, but I have been following Kayleigh's blog for several months. I have cheered at the achievements Kayleigh has made, and cried at the set backs. I pray everyday for Kayleigh's healing. I am in shock that Kayleigh's time on Earth may be coming to a close. Remember that God is the Ulitmate Physician and all things are possible with Him. Kayleigh truly is a miracle and is a great source of faith and inspiration. When I was looking at the post "Too Beautiful for Words" from yesterday, I thought of a song for you. It is on the Dove Hits 2002 CD and is called In God We Trust by Voices of Hope. The song starts out with Psalm 56:10-11 which says: In God, whose word I praise, in the Lord, whose word I praise-in God I trust; I will not be afraid. The song is a great comfort in times of sorrow or fear. The chorus says: In God we trust, for He is faithful. We put our hope in Him alone. Through any valley, God will sustain us, until the day He brings us home. I will continue to pray for Kayleigh's healing and for God's will. Always know, there are thousands of people around the world praying for Kayleigh and another miracle.

So well said, Brent. I have been following Kaleigh's story for a couple of months now, but I had no idea how dire the Freemans' financial challenges are. I just donated for the first time, and plan to give more in the weeks to come. I love this family whom I will never meet in this life time. I have read recent posts feeling a sense of helplesness. We CAN help in a very tangible way. I have a daughter with medical issues, and struggle with the financial emotional burden it has placed on our family. I can't imagine dealing with the loss of income on top of it with such staggering bills. Freemans, we love you, and pray for you constantly. We can be the hands of Christ in this situation.

I will donate in a few days (payday ;)) I appreciate you stepping in to help them by writing this. I hope they get enough and more! You might consider putting a counter under the donate button just so others can see how much has been raised. Instead of discouraging people from giving because so much has already been given...but the opposite..it gives us all a number to try and reach and also actually encourages people to join together and see what we can accomplish in God's name in large numbers. This is instead of just giving blindly and hoping it did some good. I hope the Freeman's are relieved from this burden soon! I have seen this done on other sites raising money (MckMama, etc) and they even offered tax receipts..which I realize it is not actually a charity so might be a problem.

I donated my what was the equivalent to my Starbuck's coffee money for the week and what I would've spent going to the movies next weekend. It wasn't much BUT every little bit helps, right?

Along with prayer, the Freemans' NEED our help. If we can help to reduce one element of stress at this time, we need to band together and do it.

20 years ago, I was a single mom, pregnant and had a 2 yr old baby who had Leukemia. Through the grace of God and skillful doctors, he is a strapping young man.

Let's help this terrific family out by giving up ONE expenditure and forwarding that money directly to the Freemans.

God bless all of the wonderful people and thank you Brent Riggs.

Fondly,

Count on us for a $100.00 I feel like I owe you and Aimee an apoligy for being greedy when you two truely need help and have never spoken a word of it. Brent thanks for doing this for them and being obeident to the LORD. Please Freeman's tell us when you need help (whatever it may be)Kayleigh has restored my faith and I owe her everything. As a mom who buried two babies in less than a month, after spending months and months in the NICU, I KNOW what they are going through. If it hadn't been for my parents and generous members of my Church and community, we would have been homeless, without food, and without clothes.
I donated and will continue to keep the entire family in my prayers!
Thank you for doing this, Brent!

I'll match your donation Brent!

One thing I've learned in this life is that God doesn't do addition, he does multiplication. God always sees to it that blessings received from giving help (or accepting it if you are in need) compound exponentially.

Adam and Aimee, please accept the help given from all of these people with the love intended. Do not feel bad that you need to lean on others. You have already paid so much forward, it's time to allow others the priveledge to help. I only wish there was a way to take some of the excruciating pain away.
With much love,

Thank you Brent for willingly being the answer to my specific prayer...when Adam asked for pastors to reach out to him, I asked God to send you. Praise Him. I look at the counter and see nearly two million hits! Just one dollar each would be awesome. Not that each would give but..think about it! I will donate what I can and God will more than meet it.. "abundantly, more than you ask or think, according to the power that works in us". We HAD to become aware of this need. Thank you Adam and Aimee for allowing God to speak to us through Brent...hard decision, but watch the miraculous reward!! God bless each one of you richly. This is for Kayleigh and His Glory.

To those who feel 'excluded'-
This is Aimee and Adam's blog and they ARE Christians, as are many of their close friends, such as Brent. So don't be surprised when you see them asking for help from other Christians, since helping those less fortunate is paramount in their faith. Honestly, to read this post and then shout "NOT EVERYONE IS CHRISTIAN" or "I feel excluded" is shocking to me. This is a Christian's blog. And this post is not about you at all. Even if you don't like the way this post is worded, or who it appeals to, it DOES NOT CHANGE THE FACT that they have tremendous financial troubles and their little girl is lying in a hospital, brain-dead. You don't have to be a Christian to have a little bit of compassion.

I am glad that the Freeman's faith brings them comfort at such an unbelievably difficult time. I am still hoping for a miracle. Kayleigh is indeed such a strong, beautiful soul. I have so enjoyed watching her grow(I've been following since before she was born.)

I also want to thank you for your clarification addendum at the end. I am Buddhist, and to clarify for anonymous who seemed so upset a few posts before mine: I was not "offended" by the focus on Christians. I am not even sure how to describe what I felt! Perhaps just that I wanted say that being of another belief system I still feel as strongly as Brent that it is my place to help the Freemans. From the bottom of my heart I know that I am here to put the needs of others before mine, and to do all I can to stop their suffering.

Thank you for writing this post, Brent. I had NO idea that the Freemans were experiencing such terrible financial issues. I have only been following their blog for a couple of weeks. It seems so unfair considering the overwhelming medical issues they have had to endure with Kayleigh. My heart hurts to think that they have even more stress to deal with while experiencing what no parent should have to face--the loss of a child. Our family is honored to be able to give. Thank you for allowing us this opportunity. I will continue to pray for Kayleigh's recovery and for strength and peace for her family.

Yea! I'm so glad you were able to come on as a guest blogger. I gave a contribution when I heard about Kayleigh's prognosis. Thank God the Holy Spririt moved within me. One thing I've learned is you can not out give God! If anyone believes they can't afford it, believe me, God's out to prove you can.

Brent, if possible please keep us updated on how much is coming in and when they need more. It might sound nosy, but it's always exciting to watch God's hand in action. We are called to be servants of the Most High God, and this is may be a faith walk for some of us. God will be with you!

Remember, Kayleigh's life has made a priceless impression!

Adam and Aimee,
Hang on! God's still working on some things. Even if it's the end, more miracles are yet to be seen. I firmly believe in this. It may not be on our time, but remember God is always on time!

You truly are children of God!

I know God has worked through Kayleigh to touch the lives of many. I know today was a "wow" day for me, as my husband asked if I had checked on her. When I replied "not yet this evening" he asked for the blog address! (He is NOT a blog-reader.) Then when I shared a few words of Brent's post, he agreed we should donate at least $50, with no hesitation. I do not have children of my own, but feel Kayleigh has blessed my marriage and my relationship with God. The Freeman's story helps keep "the daily grind" woes in perspective. I hope many more will be able to financially support this precious family that has ministered to so many... there is no price tag on that!

Please Lord, wrap your arms around the Freeman family. May they feel the comfort that only God can provide.

Thanks for the reminder Brent. Although I just got finished with my own fund raising drive for the March of Dimes (which does help Kayleigh indirectly), I am honored to be able to donate something directly to her family. There is no amount of money in the world that can make the situation that Adam and Aimee are going through with Kayleigh right now any better, but knowing that at least some of their financial burden is lessened, will hopefully make things a little easier on the financial front.

As a NICU nurse, I know first hand the amount of medical bills they must be facing - not even mentioning the day to day bills that every family encounters. I wish I could donate 10x more, but I also know that as Brent said, 1000 people donate small amounts of money, it adds up real fast.

I have been thinking of Adam, Aimee and Kayleigh almost non-stop the last week. My heart is truly breaking. I'm fairly new in my walk with God and am struggling so much with the idea of Adam and Aimee having to say goodbye to her. I want to understand it all and accept that it is God's will but for someone of immature faith, let me tell you it is so hard! How oh how can God ask you to say goodbye to that sweet, precious little girl already?!

I've donated $50. It's not much but I hope it will help a little.

I am still praying for a miracle - that sweet Kayleigh will survive and one day wrap her arms around her Daddy's neck! He so deserves that!!!

I also will donate to this precious family who have shared a very intimate part of their lives. I am a single mother of a 9 year old little girl who was born at 24 weeks, at 1 lb5 oz or 622 gms. I am so grateful to Christ Jesus that I have her upstairs reading a book in bed right now.

The doctors at the NICU where my daughter Karrington was born, never made things out to be a bed of roses, in fact they were down right too honest in some aspects of her recovery, but with alot of pray and the hand of God, she can home with me, just 91 days after she was born.

I would like to ask all of the other NICU parents out there to donate also, we all know what the Freemans are going through.

I have followed little Kayleigh from the September 2008 birthboard on babycenter as my daughter was due in September. I can't imagine the pain Aimee and Adam are going through. Kayleigh has been such an inspiration to me! I have and will contine to pray for her! She is so precious.
Brent, you as well inspired me to donate. Times are tough for many right now as well as myself however like you said we can help take some of the financial stress of Aimee and Adam and not be selfish...skip our morning coffee..lunch whatever it may be! Thank you for your post and I hope and pray for the best for the Freemans!!!

I just hit the donate button. $100is such a tiny gift that will only last a short time. The ENORMOUS gift your family has shared with the world will last FOREVER. Kayleigh is a treasure and I thank you wholeheartedly for sharing her with us. I only just was directed to your blog last week, but it has impacted me deeply. My little girl was born exactly 2 weeks before Kayleigh and we were blessed by God with a healty baby. After following your story, I feel now more than ever, how miraculous life is and how it can be taken for granted sometimes. I will continue to pray for you and Kayleigh - I can't begin to imagine your pain, yet you have such amazing faith - it's a real testament - thank-you all. We love you Kayleigh!

Thank you for this "call to arms" We are following the call from Tennessee. My husband is not a blog reader but he knows all about Kayleigh, so at the dinner table when I approached the subject of a donation he wanted to know why I hadn't done it yet. We think the world of this blessed little girl and her warrior parents.
I am thankful that we could help.

Thanks for the reminder, Brent. I hope the Body of Christ will really rally behind this family and let them feel in a tangible way God's love and provision. I only recently came across Kayleigh's story (from MckMama's blog), but already I can tell what a beautiful special girl she is. I donated tonight, and hope others will too. My prayers are with your family as well.

I am honored to give to such an amazing family. Though I have never met Kayleigh, I have fallen in love with this sweet baby girl. I am heartbroken over the course her little life has taken. Kayleigh's life has changed the person that I am. I have an 8 month old daughter, and because of Kayleigh I look at her life in a new way. I love her deeper, and hold her tighter every day. Kayleigh's life has meaning. She has taught me what real strength is, and she is truly a miracle. I pray for her and your family every night. I pray for God to heal her, but if this is not His plan, I pray for peace and strength for you and your family. You are an inspiration to me and so many others. May God bless you, and may He bless your sweet angel, Kayleigh.

Brent - thank you for posting this update for the Freeman blog. I think we all needed to be reminded what our calling is as brothers and sisters in Christ.

Aimee & Adam - thank you for being humble enough to allow Brent to post this update. I know it is hard to ask for help. But...Kayleigh has impacted our lives in ways we can never thank her for. So please allow us to thank Kayleigh, and your family, by helping out financially where we can.

My daughter, Kaylee Nicole, will turn 8 months old tomorrow. Since following the story of Kayleigh, I have begun to appreciate every single second I have with her even more than I ever thought possible. No longer do I get frustrated when she wakes up in the middle of the night, or when I only get 2 hours of sleep. I am thankful for every cry I am able to tend to. For that, I am donating $80. I know it is not much, but it is $10 for every precious month I have had with my daughter. Thank you for your constant reminders of how precious life really is.

I donated because many a night, I have laid awake wondering how I was going to pay my bills and I could not even imagine having to worry about paying my bills AND worring about my ill child! I have been close to foreclosure myself, had bill collectors bugging me and do not want these wonderful people to have to live thru that with an ill child! May God bless them!

I was going shopping tomorrow for some new clothes for my two healthy grandchildren who doesn't need a thing, but instead I have donated to this precious family that has stolen my heart. I agree with some others that it would be nice to know how much is being given.

Brent,
Thank you for your post tonight. My family has donated $50.00 to sweet Kayleigh and her family. I hope to donate more in the next few weeks as well. I can not even imagine what this family is going through. Little sweet Kayleigh is a reminder that every moment we have in this world is a gift and this is a reminder to always kiss and hug your kids and tell them every chance you get how thankful you are for them. I will continue to pray for Kayleigh and her family. I hope everyone who has been touched by this amazing little girl will be as generous as they can be to help this family.

Very well said Brent you are an amazing writer and speaker of God's word. I follow your blog as well and I have to say your teachings are amazing. I have been following Kayleigh's blog for some time now and I have cried, laughed, and smiled with this amazing family. I think most that follow this blog, feel as if Kayleigh is also a part of our family since we get to share in her life thanks to Adam and Aimee on a daily basis. Adam and Aimee are wonderful people, even though I do not know them personally, I can feel a part of their heart every time I read a post on this blog. My heart is breaking for them with this new discovery but also know that God has the final say with Kayleigh's life whether that be here on Earth or in Heaven with Our Lord and Savior. I cannot even place a dollar amount on how much Kayleigh's story has inspired me to be a better mother, wife, and Christian. I don't even know this precious angel but she has stolen a piece of my heart. I no longer live life just to get by but live it to the fullest extent with the sole purpose of growing each day in my walk with God and helping my fellow brothers and sisters in Christ. This family deserves more than I can possibly provide, but I know through God's love and mercy and all that follow this blog the Freeman's financial burdens can become non-existent. I will be sending a donation to the Freeman family as well as lifting up Kayleigh and the Freeman family to God to bless them abundantly and to provide them with peace and comfort in whatever is the next step for Kayleigh. May God bless this wonderful family.

I have just come across Kayleigh's blog in the last week or so. I have spent the last several days reading the entire story...I am so burdened for this sweet family. both our kids were in the NICU for about 2 weeks each and we about went crazy. I can NOT imagine how they are still holding it together...thank you, Brent, for alerting us all to their need. Please post an update on how much has been given/donated so we can all rejoice w/ them as their financial needs are met!

Thank you for the opportunity to "pay it forward". Our prayers are w/ the Freemans, their older 2 children and of course, for sweet little Kayleigh!

Thank you for putting this in terms that were not only eloquent but clear. I always hesitate to give because I can only give a few dollars sometimes. I never thought about how those few dollars add up though. Thank you!
