Missing you Sweet Girl!

I remember last Christmas like it was yesterday. I remember the heroic turn of events that allowed the doctors to figure out pneumonia was trying to take Kayleigh from us. I remember Christmas being an exciting day, not like most would normally celebrate it, but that we were lucky to celebrate the Lord's birthday in the small confinements of the NICU bedside.

It was quiet, more than usual, as nurses covered extra so other nurses could be at home with their family's. You felt an extra sense of emotions even though it was emotional enough just being there to begin with. It was a sense of pride for the nurses who stayed and worked the evening hours on Christmas Eve in to the morning hours of Christmas Day. Nurses have that caring, protecting, selfless personality that allows them to be so wonderful at their jobs. It is so much more when you see those nurses care not only for the children, but sacrifice their time for others they work with.

I remember seeing the stuffed animal hanging from the connection poles which were given to all the children for Christmas. Unfortunately all the bells in the NICU were not ringing to a lovely Christmas tune. Waldo seemed to be the joke of the day as Kayleigh wore her red and white beanie. The image of her lying face down with that beanie on is an image I will never forget.

Christmas is a time to give, a time to celebrate the Lord for all that He did for us and like all birthdays, to celebrate life. I know that Kayleigh had an amazing Christmas in Heaven and I am sure she had the opportunity to make snow angels in her first White Christmas. I just wish I could have experienced that with her here and so many other things I will have to wait to share.

Mommy and I miss you so much sweet Angel! We love you with all our hearts.

Merry Christmas Kayleigh!

God Bless,

I still pray for you, your wife, and your families. I can all too well relate to the sting of pain that lingers always, even though we know they run in Heaven with our God. I will always pray and hold dear to my heart you, your family and Kayleigh!! I can just imagine her playing with the babies I lost and my nephew that went home to be with the Lord last November (2008) at 15 months old. Our love is with you always and may His wings be your shelter and comfort!! In His Grip~Kristi Cole

Merry Christmas little angel. You are very missed here on this earth but you have had a better Christmas than us, being with The Lord himself.

Merry Christmas to your family. I know Kayleigh was dancing and having a beautiful christmas with the angels in heaven. :) I KNOW it was a good Christmas because my Momma is up there too and she ALWAYS made a deal of Christmas. ;)

I miss hearing about Kayleigh. Her journey became a part of me. You are an amazing family as I have said soooo many times before. Thank you for seeing how amazing nurses are; I am currently enrolled in nursing school. It is such an honor to take care of people. So many of my fellow classmates want to go into pediatrics. I personally do not think I can handle that emotionally, but God bless all the ones that can :)

Thank you for the post!

Wow, a lot has happened in the past year. I've been with you through your story, and felt of your joys and your sorrows with you. You and Aimee are just such incredible people. I hope that even this short time that has gone by since Kayleigh's passing has eased the pain a little for you guys. Your story is amazing, your love is strong, and your faith is incredible. I hope you are all doing okay. Love from Riverton, Utah!

I remember last year too... I remember just learning about beautiful Kayleigh... and spending hours with tears pouring down my face after reading your blog from beginning to end.

I remember Kayleigh making me take a moment quite often to give thanks for my own children.

I still think of her and you guys very often - and pray for you as well! I hope you found peace and many many reasons to smile this year for Christmas! And moreso - hope you felt Kayleigh with you too!

Love you both!

Cathy

I just Had the pleasure of reading about this angel. My 10 year old daughter had this story still logged into her iPod. She talks a lot about a little Kayleigh and now I know who she is referring to. The Freemans are a strong inspiring family. My two year old niece has kidney cancer and is suffering from the sickness of chemo. I pray everyday in thanks for the health of my children and I pray everyday for more time with my beautiful niece. Your family has taught me a strength that I never knew was possible. For that I thank you. God Bless You!!
