11/6/08 - 10:56am - So Far So Good!!!

Kayleigh's progress of coming off her sedation is going very well so far. We were a little afraid this morning to find out that Kayleigh had an episode last night probably 10 minutes after we left. She had an episode with her hypertension, but now that she doesn't have that hole in her heart to control the pressures, her heart started to work three times as hard. They were able to sedate/paralyze Kayleigh to get her to relax so she can put an end to her episode. It worked!!!

After speaking with the doctor today about it, we were quite curious why this was happening and if he was concerned about it. He was NOT concerned because he thought she would be having these bouts continuously and she isn't. The doctor also mentioned that they are going to start feeding her a little through a tube and possible start taking her off some of the tubes. That is AWESOME!!! We thought we would be in the CVICU for a couple weeks and the doctors mentioned that if things continue to progress, we could be back up in the NICU in a few days. WOW!!! That would be awesome progress right there.

Other than that, I need some assistance from ALL of you out there. We met our two neighbors who are also in critical care right now and I would like to ask everyone to say a prayer for them. One baby is named Mattox and he has a ventricle that is not working at all. Mattox's parents have a facebook account, so go to facebook.com and search for Cary Mayes from Greenville, NC and you will see their page. Ask to be a friend and send them your thougths and prayers, please!!! You know how I want to help everyone so please do this for us. Delandis is another baby that we have met and he is having congestive heart failure. Right now he is on a pacemaker, but may be put on the list the receive a transplant if it doesn't work. I do not have a website for him, but please say a prayer. Thank you!

Thank you all for everything and hopefully we can continue to get great news on Kayleigh's progress. I will be sure to update later as we get more news.

Thank you and God Bless,

The Freemans :)

Way to go KAYLEIGH!!! I am so glad to hear she is doing so well. I have been in your shoes (with the heart surgeries) and the other parents, so I know how you all feel. I am still praying for Kayleigh and the other babies you mentioned.

I just came across your blog and experienced some major deja vu.

My son was born March 23rd at 24w5d weighing 1 lb 7 oz. He dropped as low as 1 lb 4 oz after birth and seeing the pictures of your Kayleigh brought me back to the first few days when he was so small.

Like your Kayleigh, our Jacob had a long fight (4 months in the NICU), but he thrived and came home on no medications, monitors or oxygen. Miracles happen every day and my Jacob and your Kayleigh are proof that God is good!!

Best wishes to your family and my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family until you can take Kayleigh home with you.

Good luck to you and Aimee. I hope for the best and Melissa has been keeping me updated on little Kayleigh's progress. I feel for you but she seems to be doing well and it's in God's hands. He seems to be making sure she fights!!! All the best to you.

I have been following your blog for a little while now. I came across it from reading the twins blog. My family and I pray for you nightly. You have a strong little girl that is going to grow into a amazing young lady one day. She has proven that all things all possible with our loving Father by our side. She is one lucky girl to have you as parents. I check my computer several times a day to get my updates on her. I now have another baby to pray for along with your angel. (Little Mattox) Hang in there. Kaleigh will be big before you know it :)

I just happened across your blog from a preemie mom who posts on a parents of preemies bulletin board. I just wanted to send some prayers and hugs for you. I had twin boys born at 29 weeks weighing 2 lbs 6 oz. We were in the NICU for 11 weeks. Your faith and positive nature is a true inspiration to me. Kayleigh is such a little fighter and someday will be so thankful for the awesome blog you made for her. Good luck and I can't wait to see the day that your precious little one gets to go home.
