2/19/09 - "THOUGHTFUL THURSDAYS"

First of all, if you didn't see the WXII Channell 12 News Feed, CLICK HERE

Okay, here is how our "Thoughtful Thursdays" works.

You all are going to go out in to this crazy world and do something EXTRA nice for someone else. You can do something nice for someone you love, someone you don't love, or someone you you have never had the chance to love and come back here to share about it each and every Thursday.

For instance and to give you all an idea, here is what I did the other night on Valentine's Day.

Since our funds have been limited, I still wanted to take Aimee out to dinner on the most lovable day of the year. So, I took her to Steak N Shake (our favorite fast food joint). "Yeah, I know I'm true romantic" but it was better than staying at home and if she wanted to live to see the next day, she wouldn't have wanted me to cook for her.

After we finished eating, I noticed a lady and her husband sitting together enjoying their ice cream sundae together. I decided that I wanted to do my "Thoughtful Thursdays" idea and gave the manager $10 to cover what I could on their bill. I also attached a note that says "You have been touched by Kayleigh" and I left the website address with a "God Bless" on the end so they didn't think we were some kind of crazy people.

God has shown Himself through Kayleigh and we need to glorify Him in all that we do. We need to touch other people with our kindness and spread the love of God with Kayleigh's story to everyone we possibly can. When you deliver your good deed to someone, let them know that they were touched by Kayleigh and share her website with them, so they too can join in on Kayleigh's journey and our "Thoughtful Thursdays" to glorify God.

NOW...You don't have to go out and spend money on everyone, but you have got to think outside the box and come back and share it with us and the world. Be creative and make your stories stand out. You never know, you may win a creativity award and get recognized for ALL to see.

Okay, now it's YOUR turn.

Here's how you get your link on our blog for "Thoughtful Thursdays"

For my "thoughtful" thing, here is what I"ve begun doing. I have a "Buy one get one free" CARD for a six inch sub at Subway. So every time I'm in there, I pay for MINE, use the card and the person behind me in line gets their's free. It is really fun to watch their faces when they realize I've just taken care of their 'sandwich' portion of their bill with no expectations in return! Try it! It'll make ya feel great. =0)

I did the Drive Thru thing and never realized the impact I would have on the WORKER. I thought, sure, the guy behind me will hopefully be thankful. But it was the worker's reaction that made my day. She was smiling and just kept saying, "Sure, I'll do this for you." I asked her to give the guy behind me a little slip of paper that had Kayleigh's blog on it.
Just a thought...these don't all need to take money. I had a gift card at my restaurant so I used it to pay for the person behind me. You're still doing something for them! :)

Hi Adam,
So I wanted to put your button up on my blog, but I don't know how to get it on the side bar (I don't know where in the HTML to insert the code w/o messing up the template!). Any words of wisdom? If I can't figure it out, I will just put it in a post. Anyway, when I heard the Winston/ Salem area was doing a story on you, I wondered if it might be a friend of mine who I chat with from bbc. Indeed it was. She told me she found your page from my blog. Yay! So that made me realize I really should put up Kayleighs button on my page. So, any help would be appreciated!
:-)

The MISS (mothers in support and sympathy) Foundation, does this same thing. They call it the "kindness project." They have really nice business cards that accompany your act of "kindness." Maybe people would like to make there own, it could include Kayleigh's name and blog info. Their website (www.missfoundation.org/kindness/) has kindness "ideas" and stories. I like to leave ballons on a child's gravesite.
God Bless, Lorna

Rachelle!
Go to the layout section of your blog and in your sidebar click on 'add a new gadget' then select the one that says HTML/Java. When that window opens just paste the code there and click save!! Then save the layout and you're done!!

I don't have a blog but I have a Thoughtful Thursday just by default (just so happens he was done in time). As you guys know, I make crochet angels and send them to people that have lost kids. Some were found from forums, some were found from your blog, etc.

I have many more on a list but this particular person really seemed to need hers now. I am going to include the link to his pic for my TT. :)

What a fabulous idea.

I have been keeping up with your blog for a little while. I am a mom to a "micro-preemie" myself. He was born 3-1/2 months early and weighed 1lb 12oz. He was in NICU for 3 months. He is three years old now and truly a blessing from God.

Blessings to you.

I saw your Twitter about Sky, the boy with liver cancer and no insurance. Won't St. Jude treat him??? Just a thought to pass onto the family.

Since finding your blog, it has become a part of my day to visit with Kayleigh and pray for her...what a life she has lived and will continue to live...already bringing Glory to God.

Hey, just wanted to let you know something I heard this morning on the radio since I know a date has been set for forclosure on your house...this has apparently worked for a number of people. Ask the bank or whoever for the ORIGINAL mortgage paperwork. Usually mortgages have changed hands so many times that it is somewhere lost in the shuffle and delays forclosure. I don't know how long you've had your house but it was a thought. Hope it works!

Tears are popping from my eyes as I listen to the opening song on Kayleighs page.. A september mommy posted your blog link on her signature. I watched the news story on your journey with your little girl.. I cannot begin to tell you how much I admire your strength. I only hope that if something like this happens to my family during this pregnancy that I have a quarter of the strength and courage that you have. I lost my little brother to IUGR, though at the time they didn't call it that. He was 3 months premature in 1989 and they didn't have the technologies they have today and they weren't successful in keeping him with us. He's my angel. I'm so glad Kayleigh came into the world when she did. She's proof that there is a higher power. She has a purpose for this life!

Tell Sky's family to check into St. Jude's. They turn away no one!!!! I have been a supporter for many years and they are amazing....

Sky is actually a grown up who lives in an area where local doctors have turned him down. His appointment today was two hours away from his home. I am not sure how that went yet.

Thanks,

Adam

My mother was diagnoised with Multiple Myeloma ( cancer of the bone marrow) in January. Like Sky my parents do not have Medical Insurance. My Dad is disabled due to ( MS ). But they make to much to be on SSI but we have checked into a program called PSI. they are a program that if accepted they cover 70% of medical expense.
I believe the website is www.PSI.com
Hope this will help.

Aimee and Adam:
Just saw your video. I am so very sad that you are losing your home. I know how much care went in to decorating Kayleigh's room.
Can't SOMEONE come to your rescue??? Isn't there someone out there that can help to keep you in your home? I wish I had Oprah's money. I would buy your house for you. What about the banks and the new program that the government is offering? Can't that help?
Is someone out there reading this that can afford to help a wonderful family with three children? My God! Please help!!!
Lisa,
Your Chicago Realtor Friend.

If Sky is a child St Judes will treat him at no cost. No insurance required. If not in driving area a quick search will provide you with orgs who will provide transportation at no cost.
If an adult most most states have hospitals that will provide care at no cost. Location and age would help

Im usually a lurker here, but I saw that your friend Sky is in need of cancer treatment. Did they call St. Jude? They will fly them there, house them, give them money for food, everything they need. Please tell them to check into it. www.stjude.org.

Our baby Jason was born the same day as Kayleigh! I think of her every morning when Jason wakes up. After our morning bottle, we come and check in on you. God has blessed you all, Thank You for sharing it with us!
