5/8/09 - Someway, Somehow, Someday

This is one of our favorite dresses that Kayleigh's has. She looks so precious and they have these pink shorts (or should I say undies) that go with it too.

As of right now, they have decreased the Flolan for her hypertension over the past two days. They are dropping it 10% each time, and they suspect it will take at least 10 days for her to completely come off of it. Our estimated time for coming home is no less than three weeks, which we were not happy to hear and there unfortunately are no ways to make that happen sooner.

Since our main goal is to bring Kayleigh home, we decided that increasing her feeds right now will only increase the risk of her belly blowing up more than it has and keeping her in the hospital longer. We've all decided to increase the triple mix IV fluid to give her the nutrients she needs, so she can stay healthy.

Kayleigh's breathing and irritation seems to be increasing a little more today than normal and I am not sure if that is due to the weaning of the Flolan, but we will keep an eye out on that. We certainly do not want Kayleigh to be going through any pain or discomfort. Overall, she is doing well and comfortable.

Many asked if Kayleigh will remain in the sleep-in room or go back to the NICU and unfortunately she went back to the NICU after our visit. However, since we had a great time the other day, Aimee and I will be enjoying a day with Kayleigh tomorrow in one of the sleep-in rooms. My parents will be coming up to visit and hang out for a little while. Aimee and I plan to watch TV with Kayleigh and just enjoy a peaceful and quiet day with her.

I can't wait to share some more wonderful photos tomorrow. I took over 200 photos in less than 2 hours the other day when we were in the sleep-in room with Kayleigh and the kids. Aimee and I will be there for at least 6+ hours, so I should have ample time to take some really good ones.

Thank you again for everyone who donated money and prayed your hearts out to help our family through this tough time. The emotions we are dealing with change every minute that it is very hard to describe or even explain. All I know is that we are so blessed to have wonderful friends like all who have lifted us up and kept us strong through this. I only wish I can return the favor someway, somehow, someday.

God Bless,

We lost our son Calvin, a twin, six days after his birth due to complications from open heart surgery. We took a thousand pictures in those six days, I wished we had taken a thousand more. Cherish every moment, you will be forever grateful for these moments. If there was anything I could do for you beyond praying (which I'm not very good at), and the small donation we made, I would do it. I know how these moments are so precious, and how someday the memories you are creating will be something to look back on and smile. Hugs to you all.

Kayleigh and your family are in my prayers everyday and every night. She will be so happy to see her room when she gets home. You and your family are truly amazing and so strong. Thank you for sharing every day with all of us what is going on. Everyone that is following kayleigh's story considers your family our family. WE are all praying for each and every one of you. Stay strong.

You have given us all such a gift by sharing your daughter's story and photos. It's life changing, it helps us appreciate how fragile and precious life is. And the extra time spent in prayer over her strengthens our walk with God. Thank you for sharing through such a personal, intimate, difficult time in your life.

It must be such a numb, limbo state you're existing in just now. I pray for peach and comfort and strength as you savor these moments.

Please don't feel you have to thank anyone because you have opened your lives, your hearts, your faith and Kayleigh to all of us following on this journey.

It is because of Kayleigh, and Abby (Riggs), Cody, Ian that I have found a new purpose for life. I am now making baby items for hospitals. When I crochet, or knit or sew I am praying for the child and parents who will receive these items.

I talk to God while I am making the items, too. One of your "bloggers" said that they weren't good at praying. Praying is just talking to God in your everyday language. He doesn't expect a big Biblical speaking prayer. God just wants us to open our hearts to Him. That is what I do for Kayleigh and her wonderful family.

As many others have pointed out you have already given us so much. I am so moved by your faith and your love and strength for kayleigh and your family. I look at the photos of her and it is so hard for me to believe she is not there mentally with you. She seems a little alert and smiling.

I was going to ask about the swelling you mentioned earlier. Is there a way they can decrease that without it being a major operation? That was concerning to me and I am sure you are looking into it but I thought I would ask. She is so beautiful and I am still praying hard for God to keep her here with you and us.

Hugs to you & your beautiful family. I hope you have many special treasured moments with your sweet daughter tomorrow.

Oh one more question - you mentioned photos - have you thought about having a professional photographer come to the hospital and take photos with you and your family? I bet if you did a shout out for one in your area they may even do it free. Just a thought so you could capture your whole family together with Little Miss Kayleigh. :)

Lifting you up to the God who knows all...even though we haven't got a clue...

Wasn't Kayleigh swollen like this when she had pneumonia too? I know you said her brain was swelling, but it looks like her little face is swollen too. I can still remember the way her eyelids looked. Just an observation. You know we all want Kayleigh to have a problem that the doctor's can fix instead of one they can't.

It amazes me that she can go through all this and still be SO DARN CUTE!

We are still praying for your family and waiting for his miracle for Kayleigh's health.

Hi I've been following your blog for a while...and your journey has been a blessing to so many. I am also a social worker, and I am just wondering if you have the support of an advocate/social worker in the hospital that could possibly help move things along to get Kaleigh home quicker under the circumstances that you are now dealing with. Would homecare/hospice be an option? I'm sure you have looked at all of the options, but I just hear your hearts cry of wanting to take your precious baby girl home, and I so want that for you too.

in prayer,

A lullaby for Kayleigh:

Hush a bye,
Don't you cry,
Go to sleep, my little baby.
When you wake,
You shall have
All the pretty little ponies.

In your bed,
Momma said,
Baby's riding off to dreamland.
One by one,
They've begun,
Dance and prance for little baby.

Blacks and bays,
Dapples and greys,
Running in the night.
When you wake,
You shall have
All the pretty little ponies.

Can you see the little ponies
Dance before your eyes?
All the pretty little ponies
Will be there when you arise.

I sing this to my daughter every night, I hope you too get to sing to Kayleigh in her own room.

Kayleigh Anne looks so sweet...I was looking back at the pics to when she had on this little dress...the post of "Stealing Kisses" 3/8/09 almost 2 months ago to the date. It is sooo hard to believe sooo much has happened in such a short time frame. I pray GOD will let her look around again, play with her clothes line...and Adam hold on to your finger...these pics of her then are priceless! I hope it is sooner than 3 weeks before you can take Kayleigh Anne home...to her beautiful room...that is waiting for her to enjoy! Praise GOD for HIS never ending Miracles! GOD bless your family!

I know that Kayleigh's in God's will and it is all in His timing. We are all wanting that miracle so we can watch her grow. Are we being selfish, NO we have grown to love her and the Freeman family. All I am asking is that Our God continues to receive the Glory due Him...we don't know if we will witness another miracle but for now I am asking everyone who reads this to agree here on earth with me (where 3 or more gather in My Name) that God would find favor and let mom be able to celebrate Mother's Day and Adam would be able to have his beautiful princess here on Father's Day and that the entire immediate family will all be together to celebrate her 1st birthday on June 23 (wow! this was my daddy's birthday) What a day of rejoicing this will be. So PRAY and BELIEVE with me Amen. God bless the Freeman Family

Your family is in our thoughts and prayers constantly... our routine is to pray in the car on the way to school with all the kids... and My Oldest (7yrs) keeps asking if the Lord has healed Kayleighs brain waves. He has such faith and hope that He will do that... I have talked with him in length about how the Lord is more than capable to heal her just by thinking it... but that sometimes He chooses strong families to be a light in a dark world through trials... so people can see their strong faith in the Lord... and that is just what you have. I am blessed each and every time I read your blog... the Lord will heal her in His time and in His ways. So in my sons words

' Jesus heal Kayleigh soon and make her all better, and heal poppie (his grandpa) from his auto immune disease right now... amen'

Hope that blesses you today.

I dotn think you understand how much you have helped by sharing your story. You see i was born with a genetic disorder that causes me to have unoperatable tumors , I have pain every day and have at times felt there was no eason to go on. I have two children, theyar emy strength.God blessed them and protected them from gettingmy disorder. Sharing your story gives me more appreciation for that blessing, and even though it may seem small....ithelps me getthrough each and every day with my kids. My son does have special needs, and at times it can beso nerve recking, expecially since i am a single parent....and yet when I am just about to throw my hands in the air and say thats enough, I give up.... I read another one of your blogs....you are so strong and its a no wonder that your baby girl has been able to fight so long she has her parents strength and faith. when i get upset or tired or fusterated beyond belife, I I htink about you guys and your struggle and I can then look at my children in a whole new light, thanking god for their health and beauty. thanking god for all the drama, and fighting and yelling and screaming, thanking god for all the sibling rivalry...thanking god for everything. Its you and your story that have helped save me from this rutt i was in...ready to give up. I love my children with all my heart and letting the devil get inside my mind and heart was not intentional, but your story helped to blastthe evil away and now all i can see is light. Thank you so very much..God bless you and your family.

I praise the Lord for little Kayleigh! I love to see her sweet photos and read the comments to see how she is touching peoples lives, giving others hope, renewed faith and blessings. It is so amazing. Then there is your posting that gives us a picture of the heart of a godly man. A godly father and godly husband. It is a mystery how God works, but I know that He works all things togethr for good (Romans 8:28)
I hope you, Aimee and Kayleigh have a sweet time today and that the Lord would give you all some rest and that the 3 weeks will go faster than you think!

I've left notes here before and know you read each one, so I just wanted to let you all know that I am still pulling for you. I did donate some money the other day, not much, but I know every little bit helps :)

I am driven to write this because I admire your family's strength. I started thinking after reading Amy's blog the other day, that it sounded like she is about to go through a crisis of faith. A very common reaction in grief, especially of a young child. How could God let this happen after so many months of struggling and overcoming the odds, only to end up brain dead.

I tell you, it broke my heart and I cried. I can't imagine the agony you must be feeling and questioning "WHY?? Why make us go through all of that and think our dreams are within reach, only to take it away" I never felt that with my own children and I desperately hope I never do. I lost my faith in God through other things done to me in my life. I grew up Lutheran, was confirmed, went to church, and then life intervened...a few times, unfortunately.

Over the course of my life, I have come to grips with what happened but I ended up losing my faith in God. I am now a Buddhist and believe in goodness of the heart and the rich diversity of life. Bad things do happen, but they happen for a reason. We don't always know why or are happy with that reason, but I think we will see it clearly in the afterlife.

I think what I just wanted to say is that I am so sorry your family is now going through this. I also wanted to say, hold on to your faith and keep close to what you believe. Don't let this take away anything, because the road to finding it again is very long and hard, and you don't end your journey as the same person.

Adam, Aimee, Brandon, Allyson, and Kayleigh - may you know peace.

Kayleigh looks so beautiful in this outfit. I am continuing my prayers throughout the days. I am happy that you have been able to spend time with Kayleigh outside of the NICU. I will continue praying for another miracle. I want for you to be able to bring her home to her room. I think it is great that when you spend time with her you treat her as if there is nothing wrong and that she is perfect because she is.I want to let you know that in Wisconsin there are many many people praying for the Freeman family. God Bless all of you. Aimee if I don't get to the blog this weekend have a Happy Mother's day and God Bless you for all that you have done and everything you continue to do.

How do you not know you are already giving back? You are sharing God's love and His mercy with thousands of people across the world. See, when we gave, whether we knew if or not, we were doing God's work, helping out his disciples in time of need. To God be all the glory for any help you have received.

Your family is in the palm of His hand. And the blessings and miracles coming your way, just wait!

Well first of all, look at lil' miss Kayleigh Anne!! What a sweet little dress. I think it matches her sweet spirit, perfectly. :-)
And that Pooh pillow/sheet is in my home right now!!! lol Well, not that one, but the same kind! My two year old LOVES Pooh, so I bought two of those sheets. So, it was a surprise to see this precious girl laying on the same thing that my baby is laying on!

Keep going strong Adam & Aimee. I know what you mean about emotions changing so often! I am going through my own dark Valley. At times I feel strong in the Lord, and feel I can face anything with, and in, Him. Then the next, I feel sick and discouraged and a failure. This is NOT an easy journey we are on, that's for sure. But we will make it. I'm not always sure how, lol. But God will get us there. Someday.
:-)

I love you guys, and I'm praying for you!!! Tell Allyson and Brandon that they are super-special! :-D

I just love your little girl so much. Your pictures make my day. I wanted to mention to you about a photography service that comes to the hospitals for free and takes all the pics you want when time is limited with your precious miracle. It is called Now I lay me down to sleep. They are a fantastic service - FREE to families of terminnally ill and pregnancy/infant losses. They are all over the US and I wish I had known about them when I lost my son. They takes pics "before, during and after" I can't say enough about this company. Please google Now I lay me down to sleep for the website and a photographer that will come to you, even in the middle of the night.

Many thoughts and prayers for your family.

How hard it must be to stand over your child like this and not be able to help her or fix it. My heart is breaking for you, please keep the faith, God is the answer for all things. Only He could supply the comfort your family needs at this time, i am so thankful that you know God, trust in Him, and believe in Him. One day we will understand why, and the reward will be worth it all.

Adam and Aimee, my life will never be the same as a result of you sharing you story and precious family with us. My little girl is just 2 weeks older than Kayleigh and your journey has had a profound effect on us, as I have been following your story from the start. I lost my dad when Scarlett was 7 weeks old, and it was your strength and courage that helped me get through that, Scarlett is a beneficiary of the love of Kayleigh, the cuddles she gets are doubled the love I have for her is off the richter scale as it has made every moment I have with her far mor cherished - this is what you, your family and the gorgeous Kayleigh have brought to people's lives. We have the responsibility now, to ensure we use this as a way of improving our own lives and lives of others. I will be praying hard for a quick move for Kayleigh to her beautiful bedroom, and nothing will stop me praying for a miracle! The pictures of Kayleigh are too beautiful for words, and her pretty dress is just divine. You are always in our thoughts and I hope you get your wish to be a family at home as soon as you can. God Bless.

Aimee - my thoughts to you on this Mother's Day weekend.

A Newborn's Conversation with God

A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow,
but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"
God said, "Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."
The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy."
God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."
Again the small child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand
when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"
God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words
you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will
teach you how to speak."
"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"
God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."
"Who will protect me?"
God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life."
"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."
God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach
you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you."
At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth
could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."
God said, You will simply call her, "Mom."

Dear Freemans-

In the midst of the sadness, I was so moved by your attitude as parents and how you wanted to share you story to inspire others. I was so moved and truly blessed by your story of your angel Kayleigh. Even though she has gone on to be the with the Lord in heaven, her spirit and courage of strength will always live on and on. GOD BLESS YOU GUYS!!!
